First of all, thanks to all of you for participating in yesterday’s excitement. I’m not sure we’ve ever gotten more comments on a single post, and the love on Facebook was just as generous. It makes our march a lot more fun when we’re able to share it with you, so thanks for checking in, for giving us encouragement, and for making this barn a little less lonely than it can sometimes be.
So what to write about on the day after a day of such intrigue? As is so often the case, Robbi has solved the problem without even meaning to.
For the last two nights, just as I’ve been drifting off to the far pastures, Robbi has asked me for drawing prompts. For the last two mornings, I’ve awakened to images in my inbox.
Two nights ago, I gave her “banana head.” (I may have been trying to insult her; I can’t remember now.)

Last night, I mumbled, “false teeth.”

Amazing what a girl can do with an iPad, stylus, and five minutes at the end of a long day.

In blatant violation of the long-held (though unwritten) rule barring profanity on these pages, I must post Robbi’s latest midnight drawing. Because the baby has been sleeping through the night lately, Robbi has also been sleeping through the night lately, leaving us with a conspicuous lack of midnight drawings.
That said, I woke up this morning to find the following treat in my inbox (with apologies for the indelicate language).

I guess Robbi had been saving up the good stuff while her gray matter rested.
Woof, woof, indeed.

A couple of midnights ago, Robbi woke up with a great idea. What she saw in her head was not only going to be an amazing drawing, but it had the potential to change the world. She grabbed her iPad, picked up her stylus, and proceeded to draw.
By the next morning, she had forgotten the entire episode. But when she turned on her iPad, she found this on the screen.

For those of you not well versed in the language of midnight Robbi, this says “iTuba.” Apparently, Robbi’s revolutionary idea was a tuba that played itself. Apparently, though, writing out the name of her fabulous invention had completely wiped her out. And so the world had to wait for enlightenment.
For another night, at least.
The next night, Robbi found herself inspired anew, and, picking up where she’d left off, proceeded to draw iTuba to the best of her memory.

She tells me that the version above pales in comparison to the magnificence of the original, but I’m still glad she decided to draw it.
My world, for one, has been changed. At least a little.

When I saw the subject line in my inbox this morning, I opened the email that accompanied this illustration looking forward to seeing what pirates looked like when filtered through the lens of Robbi.

I guess I should have known better.

Apparently, Robbi was full of vim at 4:23am. Not sure if the below sentiment was directed at me or the baby who would not sleep.

Not sure it matters.
