Kato has no school on Wednesday, so either Robbi or I spends the day with the boys. This week, it was Robbi’s turn. So she piled them into the car and headed for one of our favorite places, Eastern Neck Island.

Alas, Washington’s reach does extend to the Eastern Shore. Perhaps the congressmen were having a trust-building exercise on one of the trails and couldn’t be bothered? In any case, Robbi and the boys settled for the next best option.

The beach at Rock Hall. But wait, you say. It’s October, you say. Kids shouldn’t be swimming in October.

Try telling that to Kato.

Try telling that to August. If there is fun to be had, cold toes are no great barrier.

Kato insisted that summer was still in full force.

And August insists that everything his brother says is true.

Yes, in case you didn’t get the memo, summer is alive and well on the Eastern Shore.

Better not blink, though. I’m guessing that October will be showing its true colors soon enough.
