… Daily Affirmations for Realists.
This is an idea we cooked up a year ago, but are only just now getting around to. Here’s the deal: every day for the next year, we will be posting a new illustrated affirmation – or rather, a new illustrated reality check. Kind of a spoof on those affirmation calendars that pump you up every morning. We want to bring you down. Every day. Yep. This is the Twitter project we have been hinting at for oh-so-frickin’ long now. So each of the affirmations is 140 characters or less (fewer?). Little golden nuggets of wretchedness. To be repeated to oneself when things are just going too damn well.
If you’d like to get these via Twitter, follow us (IdiotsBooks – without the apostrophe). So that you can get the full effect, though, the links will lead you back here. Because unfortunately you can’t tweet a picture (since that would be 1,000 words, which is waaay over the limit).
And so, without further ado:
Can you hear Matthew cracking the whip? Because I sure can.

Me like! Very, very excellent start. Thanks.
I’m not a realist. May I read the affirmations anyway?
I am blown away — both by the greatness and the daily stress for you!! Love them both so far. Have you contacted the syndicates? (I am always good for crass commercial schemes, as no one is more crass and commercial than me…)
sorry, Matthew: “…than I.”
Burger Queen: Syndicates shmindicates. The Affirmations are the exclusive property of our loyal readers. As for the grammar, don’t sweat it. I struggle to get it right myself. And I’m a terrible speller. And my feet stink.
BQ – If by “syndicates” you mean the Yakuza and the Mexican Drug Cartels, then yes. They turned us down, surprisingly, for “not being affirming enough.”
I guess the Colombians will give you the same answer. Oh well. I was just hoping to share in the spoils of giant back tattoos and unlimited cocaine.
When I see you in March, I’ll show you how to Tweet a picture!
