This morning, I woke up at 4:30, kissed my sleeping babies, and headed to the Kansas City airport.

By 6:30, I was in the sky, headed southeast. It was strange, sitting there quietly in my seat with no small people to admonish, persuade, or wrangle.

On one hand, I was happy for the peace. On the other hand, I already missed those three little imps.

I watched the sun rise from my window.

A few hours later, I landed in Atlanta. The town’s priorities are clear. Hoopla is in the air.

As a son of the heartland, I am pulling hard for the improbable Shockers of Wichita State. As a Duke fan who recently saw what Louisville is capable of, I’m thinking the upset is unlikely. But who knows? Anything can happen.

That’s why they play the game.
