Kato, it seems, is his own man. We took him to the doctor today to check on his progress to date. We were surprised (and not displeased) to learn that he has gained a whopping 2 pounds, 4 ounces since his birth and now weighs in at 9 pounds, 6 ounces. As opposed to his big sister, Kato is on the growth chart, and is actually approximately average in weight and length. In the context of our family, “average” is the new “enormous.”
After getting weighed and measured, Kato lounged while waiting for Dr. Ramirez to come further poke and prod him.
Throughout the poking and prodding, Kato was sanguine, telegraphing a carefree attitude as if to say, “I’m just too huge to fuss about such trifling things.”
At one point in the examination, Robbi was asked to see if she could read Kato’s mind using nothing but her fingertips. We’re not sure why. But there you go.
And there you have it. Kato has a clean bill of health. Apparently, by next week he’ll be big and strong enough to beat the snot out of Alden.
I warned her, but she doesn’t seem concerned in the slightest. What she lacks in bulk, she more than makes up for with the uncanny power of her hair.
Who can say which one will win the sibling brawl, whenever it might come to pass? Vegas has the odds at roughly even.

Oh, he has the cutest little expression of contentment. And at the doctor’s office! Methinks he is one easy-going little guy.
(BTW, mine arrived at a bit over 9 lbs. Oy.)
Oh Clare – I can’t even IMAGINE. Oy is right.
Robbi,
And no drugs. Double oy.
But, like your delivery with Kato, it happened pretty fast, thank goodness.
It’s all good stuff, though, eh? And look at that little guy. He is SO darling. As is Alden, of course. ;-)
