Folks. One week from tonight, we will be giving our first-ever Bobbledy Books reading at Chestertown’s own Bookplate.
Here are the essential details, in garish color.
It was at Bookplate that we had our very first public appearance six years ago. We did a “talk” and a signing. “Talk” is a generous description of what happened. It was more of a ramble. Back then, we had little to say, as we had only been in the business of making books for about three months. Back then, we were still under the delusion that we were only going to make books for a year and then get our acts together and return to the real world.
That never happened. At least, not yet. Knock on wood.
Here’s a picture of the cake Bookplate proprietor Tom Martin had made to commemorate the event.
It features the covers of our first two Idiots’Books, Facial Features of French Explorers and Death of Henry.
And here’s a photo of our audience. What pioneers they were, coming to listen to the ramblings of two self-professed idiots.
Seiko was there, along with other stalwart supporters who have been with us from the very beginning.
Note that the poster tells one glaring lie. There will not, in fact, be cake. But there will be animal crackers. Come eat them. Bring kids or just bring yourself. We’ll do our best to please all comers. Or at least to entertain.
