As we were driving back from Toronto today, Robbi realized that she hadn’t yet drawn an illustration for this week’s auction. As soon as we got home, I hauled Alden and Kato off to the playground so that Robbi could sit down and paint.

When I got back two hours later, Robbi shared three new illustrations with me, each of them a departure from her usual fare and all three distinct from one another in terms of palette, composition, and style. We puzzled over which to post today (we’ll auction all three, eventually), and settled on Forest Fire, because it charmed us in a way that neither of us could adequately explain.

Robbi, who is prone to fits of insecurity when attempting new styles, guesses that none of you will like it, but I think that there is a home for it somewhere.

If you are compelled, bid away. If Robbi is right, this might be the week for a bargain.
