I’m going to start off by saying that this is awesome and beautiful.
But then I’m going to poop all over it by saying that halfway through, I thought to myself, “How wonderfully amazingly embracingly arty to spend all the time and energy and resources to make this thing and film it so beautifully just for the sheer art of it! For the pleasure of creating something cool. Who even does that anymore?” I patted myself on the back for being half-japanese, and thus marginally genetically associated with the project.
But then, but then. You just have to watch till the end.
Yeah, it’s no jaw-dropping plot twist, but I suppose I should have seen it coming.
Sometimes it’s nice to be naive. But mostly, so disappointing.
I guess I should compliment the gadget company for supporting artiness, but I’m quite sure they have ulterior motives.
Jaded, now, and ready for bed.

It IS beautiful! And it is art. And I too am now jaded. Thanks.
Okay, so even though it ends up to be an ad, it was still very cool. EXCEPT, now I REALLY feel like a hapless boob who completely relies on serendipity (when it comes to making art) (and other stuff too probably) (no, not probably). I love the IDEA of stuff like that…….
If you like that, then you’ll dig this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSKyHmjyrkA&feature=player_embedded
i went through this procession of responses exactly (except, of course, instead of admiring myself for being half-japanese, i admired myself for being half-pinocchio, and thus marginally materially associated with the project). and when i got to the end, i couldn’t decide if i wanted to pass it along to anyone else. because obviously its beautiful, brilliant piece that deserves to be seen, but who wants to be complicit in a viral marketing campaign?
Faith – hapless boob, HARDLY. Now that I’ve seen it in person, I can officially say I LOVE your work. It seems that serendipity definitely definitely works in your favor.
Ken – YES! Those videos have been on my back burner (so far back I forgot about them). Must remember to post them…
Kenan – I wish I had known you were half-pinocchio. I wouldn’t have said all those insulting things about blocks of wood. And how you don’t have any real feelings. Sorry!
