So, this YouTube video was apparently a phenomenon I wasn’t aware of until recently (3.7 million+ views) (thanks, Erica!) but it was double dream worth the wait:
Those of you who don’t know Matthew don’t know that he has a past fraught with musical theater. I don’t doubt he would have flourished under the tutelage of Mr. Jacobson via YouTube as a fresh-faced teenager. As it was, he once took a series of private dance classes at Olga Dunn’s studio in Great Barrington, Massachusetts in order to prepare to audition for the role of the leprechaun in Finnian’s Rainbow. I cannot help but mock him every chance I get. Anyone who needs to take a series of classes to learn how to do a leprechaun kick probably shouldn’t be singing and dancing at the same time.
That being said, have you seen this guy’s leprechaun kick?
I eat my words. The other guy in the photo is an actual singing, dancing Broadway star. But he obviously didn’t spend any time with Olga Dunn.

Oh dear, that video made me laugh so hard. I spent many summers teaching elementary school kids to sing and dance, so many of those moves were pretty familiar!! But, I can honestly say that I had never heard of “double dream hands.” I am SO using that move and terminology next time I choreograph something. :)
Yay! Great post.
