I would like you all to pay close attention here. This is what a good, loving wife will do for her husband in a moment of selfless compassion. Yesterday I was chuckling wildly over Matthew Draws VIII when I realized that what he is doing is, in fact, not an easy job. For one, he does it in pen, in one shot. No erasing, no redraws, no changing his mind about filling in those pupils. And for two, he’s putting this rough first take out there on the interwebs, for everyone to see (and, doubtless, laugh at). You’d be hard-pressed to find a professional illustrator who would go out and do that.

And so, here I am. I realize, of course, that this will likely significantly lower the stock value of Robbi Behr Illustration, but I feel it only right to fall on the sword in the name of, well, I’m not really sure. Just to fall on the sword, I suppose. You ought to do it every now and then, just to keep yourself real.

You may feel free to cross-reference with Matthew’s drawings, though I’m not sure it will help (especially in the cases of items 3 and 4) (in my defense, Matthew picked horrible reference photos for those two). Give it your best shot.
