The latest auction is up. As usual, it was inspired by the theme of the week, which is April Fool’s Day.

Apparently, once upon a time, the BBC reported on the Swiss Spaghetti Harvest, which got lots of people confused and excited and is one of the most famous April Fool’s jokes of all time. You can read more about it over on the Bobbledy Blog.

For now, I’m going to share some process pics from Robbi’s latest epic painting effort.

Here is the early going, inking the final on the light table while using her sketch as reference .

Adding some blue sky for depth, experimenting with some background shapes (trees and bushes) without black outlines.

Pausing to wonder whether or not this new approach is working.

Charging forward with yet more paint, despairing of the emerging muddiness.

Adding ink lines for texture over the watercolor washes on the tree trunks.

And here is the finished product. Robbi isn’t thrilled, but I think it’s great.

The meal never smells as good to the one who has spent all day cooking it.
