Kato turned one yesterday. Of course, we had a party. Of course, we made another Jell-o cake. Though covered with fruit, it only had to hold one candle. Alden helped me light it (much to Kato’s consternation, apparently).

Kato cheered up once he realized that the cake was his. He asked me if it was ok to do an open mouthed face plant.

I suggested that he start by blowing out the candle. Alden helped.

Once we dispensed with the ceremony, Kato confronted his quarry and systematically worked his way through the five stages of cake-eating.

Mayhem

While Kato abused his cake, the rest of us did the same with slices of our own. Only the faintest sliver remains this morning, and Robbi has already claimed the rest for herself, commenting that “Kato’s birthday is over, Yo.”

I’ll be sure to remind her of this logic the day after her next birthday.
