So – the next upcoming bit of grand excitement is that, come Saturday at 1:00pm, I will be sitting on stage mere feet away from the legendary R. Crumb. Yep, you heard me right. And no, we won’t be sharing the stage with 80 other people to sing some rousing gospel numbers. No, it will just be me and Mr. Crumb and hopefully not a bunch of deafening silence.
I’ve written a small piece about it for the Chestertown Spy – click here to read it, if you’d like. If you’re not immediately compelled, let it be known that I used the words “boobs,” “butts,” and “cojones” in it. Yes, that’s what I thought. Clickety-click.
And if you’d like a warm-up to see what the guy is like these days, have a look:
Now, just imagine that I am a glamorous art editor for the New Yorker with a sexy french accent, and you can probably just skip the big event on Saturday.

I will be there with bells on, and can’t wait!!!
Remember, Don – if you see me blanking out, I’m expecting you to do a high kick and split your pants as a diversion. I hear it’s been done before.
Well, yes, it has. And fear not, I have not forgotten! I might stitch in some velcro to facilitate the ripping of the pants. And you will be amazed at the quality of my kick.
And, in sort of related topics, since it’s R. Behr and R. Crumb, can you have background music by R. Kelly? Just a thought.
I’ll be at the Imperial on Friday night if you need anything. Like a practice kick.
Robbi,
I really wish I could be there. R. Crumb is truly one of a kind…and so talented, and something tells me you will be a formidable match for him. Any chance you can capture it on video and share it with us?
Robbi–being as we live close enough to come to this wonderful event I apologize for not making it–we will be hosting friends from out of town for the weekend and I was tempted to send them home early but alas we are committed. I hope its thrilling, enlightening, and fun.
