I was out running the other day. It was a normal day. A sunny day. There were birds up on the lamppost.

And rowers on the Chester.

I was running along and minding my own business, when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted something…

…but what was it? I’m surprised that I even noticed, because it was so small and wrinkled and unremarkable, but on closer examination, the small, gray, shapeless thing I saw by the side of the road was…

…none other than my very favorite microfiber lens cleaning cloth that has been missing for quite some time.

Those of you who don’t wear glasses (or who do wear glasses and have not yet discovered the stunning effectiveness of microfiber) will not understand the soul-affirming joy I felt at being reunited with my old pal.

Let me be the first to tell you that all microfiber lens cleaning cloths are not created equal. This one happens to have been given to me by a friend name Josh, who, in addition to being the hippest, smartest, greatest guy I know always has impeccably clean lenses.

I had not been able to find my favorite microfiber lens cleaning cloth for quite some time, and suddenly I knew why. It must have fallen out of my pocket some weeks or months prior and had been lying here ever since, just waiting to be rediscovered. How many times have I run past since, blithely ignorant to its pleas for reconciliation?

The thought is horrible indeed, but I choose to focus on doing all I can to restore its surely shaken faith in me.

I go forth today with a new sense of purpose, a resolve to be more careful from here on, and a delightfully clear set of lenses.
