I took Kato to the doctor this morning for his one-year checkup.
We were, of course, curious to know if he had grown. He seemed to be bigger, sturdier, faster, stronger, etc. After weighing him, the nurse handed me this sticker.
Reading the words proudly displayed at the top, I was encouraged. Until the doctor appeared. As it turns out, Kato has not grown much, and is, in fact still in the lowest 3rd percentile on the growth curve (or I should say, off the growth curve. But, on the positive side, he is completely proportional and fit as the proverbial fiddle. The doctor was not worried. All was well. Until the doctor looked in Kato’s mouth.
As it turns out, Kato is a vampire.
Although this does not entirely explain his smallness, it does suggest that we should continue to indulge his evident enthusiasm for red meat.

It does look like a bat embroidered on his shirt. Sort of.
He’s a really CUTE vampire.
