If you don’t already know, it’s strawberry season in Chestertown. They’re cheap in the grocery store, but also abundant for the picking at Lockbriar Farms, where we went on Sunday.

We take our berry picking seriously in this family. Very seriously.

We are simply unwilling to trust that the strawberry’s look and feel is enough evidence to determine it’s quality. No, we must also taste.

And generally, we are not disappointed.

The kids’ cousins from the other side of the Bay (yes, there is another Behr contingent in Silver Spring) came to join the fun.

Six pints of strawberries seemed like a good excuse for grilling peppers.

And portobellos. And asparagus.

It’s a good time of year for eating that which rises from the ground.

Or that which rises in the oven. See below the Sun Bun Strawberry Haagen Dazs Shortcake.

There are no photos of us eating said dessert, because all involved were so focused on the act of consumption, and afterward, so focused on the act of wishing that the strawberries weren’t gone.
