Imagine our surprise the other day when we answered a knock at the door and were presented with a lovely small bouquet that featured a miniature pineapple.

It’s always surprising to get flowers. And affirming. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I got flowers. Because I, being an incredibly masculine and downright intimidating person would never get flowers from anyone, right?

Not so. Though I shared the honor with Robbi, I was the recipient of a small, beautiful, unexpected, and untraditional (did I mention the pineapple?) bouquet from Chester York.

But we don’t know a Chester York. Nevertheless, the card expressed a warm sentiment, from him to us.

We were heartened, but puzzled.

Various excavations into the recesses of our minds (empty) and address books (disorganized) reveled no signs of Mr. York. And so we took to the internet, which led us to this wonderful discovery.
It seems that people all over Chestertown have been receiving these lovely little arrangements from the same mysterious Chester York for some time now. Though some believe they know Mr. York’s identity, there is no clear consensus, and a community of speculation has popped up in the comments section of a Chestertown Spy article written by one of our fellow bouquet recipients.
As for Robbi and me, we have no idea. We assume the pineapple is some kind of clue, but we’re utterly stumped, if pleasantly so.
For now, we’re enjoying this burst of surprise as it sits in the middle of our studio, providing oxygen and inspiration, and no small dose of mystery.
