As previously mentioned, we had a bit of an incident on the way to Alaska.

This truck came into our lane.

And did this to our car, squeezing us between its tires and the guard rail.

The insurance adjuster came and ran his estimates. The verdict: our car was officially totaled according to the formulas of the state of Maryland. The repairs exceeded 75% of the estimated value of the car and so the car was officially retired.

It was time to say goodbye.

You have served us faithfully, oh large, white, sexy Nissan Quest.

Facing the prospect of immobility, Robbi did what Robbi does. She got online and (in about twenty minutes) found a new car, a 2009 Volkswagon Routan with only 19,000 miles, sitting in a small dealership by the New Jersey Turnpike. The next morning, we drove north, did a test drive, and moved on.

We still drive a large, sexy minivan. But now it is blue.
