Just now the doorbell rang. It was Doug the Baker, patron saint of the tempting, dropping off a sample of his newest menu item: toasted baguette with Nutella.
I can’t tell whether Doug the Baker is a good guy who just likes to share the delicious, wholesome food he creates or whether he is trying to destroy me so that he can turn the barn into a giant baking factory.
If I get to keep eating like this, it really doesn’t matter.
I will thrive or die happy.

or perhaps he just wants free advertisement….
Emily – I would be suspicious as well, except this guy’s not that savvy. I mean, look what he did to his hair!
Emily: I am shocked by your cynicism. This is Chestertown, for godsake!
Robbi: what hair?
Please send him to Silver Spring MD for us to try out his newest menu item.
Woa woa woa, I am plenty savvy, Robbi. I woo your husband whenever I feel like it, hair or not. And for the record, I do have some, its quite fuzzy. And Emily, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Veronica – there is talk of Doug the Baker coming to a farmer’s market near you… will keep you posted!
Doug – what? Who’s the gander in this situation? Are you calling me a goose? WTF?!
DTB: What’s this about geese? Are you going to start making foie gras?
I want to know what happened to Doug the Baker’s hair.
Also, Nutella is my kryptonite. Stay far away from me with that, Mr. Fancy Baker Pants.
Nay, nay I say to all of you, except Matt. Yes, foie gras is in the future for the bakery, in many delicious forms. And no, foie gras is not barbaric, for those of you who were about to perk up on that. In regards to the goosey banter, yes I may be getting good press, but they are also getting very good goodies. Hence the use of the idiom. On my run today I almost plowed into a flock of feathered fowl at the end of high street. It has been a goosey day.
Mmmmm, I want me some of that. (The nutella and baguette, that is.)
This is not fair to your readers. You’re about to owe me a new keyboard due to the excessive drooling. (Which, I hasten to add, is not normally a problem.)
I want one!! (that would be a DTB and nutella-covered baguette)
Yes, please.
