Christmas morning arrived with great anticipation. The children gathered by the tree, waiting eagerly for permission to proceed.
Eventually, permission was granted. Alden wrestled with her stocking. Apparently, Santa had not included a crowbar she needed to pry the contents out.
Kato modeled his new scarf. Apparently, the color of 2013 is going to be “turquoise-dominant rainbow.”
Baby August conquered the play table, never realizing that it was not, in fact, a Christmas present.
The presents were plentiful, but there were a few favorites. For Alden, it was her “plexi-glass slippers,” which she requested after learning that actual glass slippers (her first choice) would probably break and cut her foot. Plexi-glass, she reasoned, was a fair alternative.
Kato’s favorite gift was the wooden model of a Stearman biplane, the same plane he saw at the Massey Air Museum when he visited with his grandma and grandpa earlier this spring.
August’s favorite gift was the trash bag full of discarded wrapping paper. I’m guessing that by this time next year, his standards will have risen slightly.
When we asked Alden what she wanted for Christmas, her answer was “something beautiful and pink.”
We hoped this hat would fit the bill.
Apparently, it did.
I got a fish eye lens for my iPhone.
Robbi got a popcorn popper.
Kato got a power drill and a bunch of bolts.
Alden got the most beautiful set of art supplies in the world.
And Baby August got some much-needed rest.
Lucky little guy. I’d trade all my Christmas loot for just one of his power naps.
