As I think you know, I run. And when I run, I see things that I would not see from the driver’s seat of my minivan, or even from the seat of my bicycle. For example, the other day, I found this impressive piece of automotive engineering on the narrow sidewalk of the Chester River Bridge.

I saw it there for a few days in a row, at which point I figured it could be considered officially abandoned. So I picked it up and brought it home with me, figuring I could nurse it back to health and give it a second chance in life.

First off: if this is your awesome Chevrolet hubcap cover/bolt concealer, drop me a line, and we’ll arrange a reunion.

But if it’s not, and if the rightful owner never comes forward, imagine the possibilities. Badass coaster? Head cap for homemade robot? Central component of Iron Man Halloween costume?  Tiny high-tech stool for newborn?

Robbi can’t understand why I run. The idea of running even half a mile is revolting to her. But running yields such discoveries as this one, my question for her is, how could I not?
