February being shorter than most months, our TEDx talk is now just nine days distant.
Over the noon hour this past Monday at MICA, we gave our talk to a group of 40 or so graduate students and professors.
Here’s a pic of our Q&A taken and Tweeted by illustration MFA program chair Whitney Sherman, who happened to be in attendance.
The talk went well enough, we guess, but we also sensed that we had some tightening to do. As opposed to most talks, where we speak from a podium and refer to our notes as we go along, we need to have this sucker memorized and fully internalized so that we can look right out at the audience, wave our arms emphatically, and speak with the power of conviction.
And so we have been practicing daily and sharpening the script and occasionally fretting. This is, after all, a rather big deal. We have a chance to get up on stage and utter for 18 uninterrupted minutes, and we want to make sure we make the most of it.
We like our talk. We think it says something interesting and is engaging and is not the worst possible way to spend 18 minutes. If you are the sort who likes to hear people with expertise and strong opinions speak their minds, TEDx Chester River might be just the way to spend the afternoon of Saturday, March 1. Tickets are on sale now. We’d love to see you there.
