Hello friends. Robbi and I are excited to announce that we will be speaking at TEDxChesterRiver 2014 on Saturday, March 1, along with nine other folks who will, presumably, be talking about fascinating, relevant things, as is the habit for TED speakers.
I tell you this in case you are the sort of person who plans for things in advance, because tickets are now on sale via Eventbrite.
An offshoot of the world-famous TED conferences (Technology, Entertainment, Design), TEDx events are “meant to give communities, organizations, and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.”
Which puts a great deal of pressure on us to be stimulating, not to mention fascinating, and relevant.
March 1 is less than two months from now, which means I’m elbows-deep in writing our talk, which will, as is our style, be illustrated with hundreds of drawings by Robbi. Drawings meant to convey visual information that parallels whatever we are saying.
For example, if I were saying that we’re feeling harried and anxious as we contemplate the prospect of being fascinating, relevant, and stimulating by March 1, Robbi might draw a picture that looked like this.
Or we could just post a picture of ourselves in our current state of disarray. But that would, for some strange reason, be slightly more humiliating.
And so, I return to my writing as Robbi draws pictures for the next Bobbledy book. What are the children up to, you ask? We’re not sure. Please let us know if you see them wandering around unchaperoned. They usually respond to their names and are easily appeased with lollipops.
We’d love to see you there, of course. To cut down the overall percentage of fruit-chucking hooligans in attendance.
