So, I’m a season or two off for Spring Cleaning, but I got started on it this week. The problem started with some back-up drive issues a week ago. After replacing two drives, it became evident that part of the problem was our gigantic iPhoto library (324 gigs) and its lumbering slowness and continued crashing. Upon running a disk utility on the drive that houses the iPhoto library, it was found that that disk had some issues as well. Well, this all led me down a rabbit hole of ordering new drives, finding some cloning software, placing some frantic calls, drying my eyes on random paper towels I found on my desk, etc. The upshot of it is that the computer has been cloning for twelve hours and eleven minutes (and counting!) and I have a new resolve to try to maintain some order in my files.

So. I started with my desktop. My virtual desktop. This one:

Desktop clutter

Yeah. Things had gotten a bit out of hand. So, I started sorting and chucking (mostly chucking). And I’m so glad I did, because I found this little treasure:

How great is this?!! This is a page from the sketchbook of Bailey Smith, who took notes during our talk at ICON7 and was kind enough to send them to us.

It’s especially fun to see little nuggets of Matthew’s writing and our ideas being noted: “whatever your obsession, pursue it with abandon” “goals = unspecific, expectations = low, doggedness = high”. With those little pearls, none of you need to bother with seeing the rest of our presentation. That’s pretty much it.

And, really, how cute did she make us?

We haven’t looked that cute since we were 25 and got carded going into an R-rated movie (Sleepy Hollow, if you must know).

I’m so glad I unearthed this little treasure. What a wonderful souvenir from this crazy creative trek we call our lives. So, thanks Bailey. And thanks, Desktop. And thanks, Spring Cleaning.

I guess I should have called this post “Thanksgiving.”
