Friends,

Our new Canadian subscriber/soulmate Leila just sent us this song/poem/ode to express her enthusiasm for Idiots’Books and the products she has recently ordered from us. It is magnificent. I must share it with you all. Leila wins Subscriber of the Day honors, and unless unseated, she may well also be named Subscriber of Tomorrow.

Without further ado:

The Battle Hymn of the Republic (the Canada Council for the Arts tells us to use this tune when communicating with Americans):

There is a man and woman living in a hippie barn
They wish that they were isolated but the Internet’s an arm
It reaches in and reaches out — try not to be alarmed!
When the books go on and on.

Glory, glory to the Idiots
Glory, glory to their kids
Glory, glory my new TShirt!
And the books go on and on.

Sometimes I think they’re just like mice living in a little nest
But then I dream at night of cats and other big bad pests
I wish I could protect them from strife and all the rest
So the books go on and on.

Glory, glory to the Idiots
Glory, glory to their kids
Glory, glory my new Poster!
And the books go on and on.

You never know what life will bring when you fall down on your face
You look up from the ground and see a brand new place
And you realize what you always wanted is to leave that damned rat race
(cause you’re really just a mouse)
And let books go on and on.

Glory, glory to the Idiots
Glory, glory to their kids
Glory, glory my new Book!
And the books go on and on

Should you wish to know more of the wonderful and mysterious Leila, she writes blog posts in addition to ode/song/poems.
