At long last, the big day has arrived. Literally years in the making, our first book published by someone else goes on sale today.
It was December of 2006 when we released our Idiots’Books version of Ten Thousand Stories, and it was December of 2011 when our agent called to say that Chronicle had made an offer to publish a version of their own.
Our book has undergone a major facelift since then.
Now there are orange endpapers and a white wire. Now the images are printed on gorgeous paper instead of card stock from Office Depot. But it’s still very much the same. The panels still recombine in strange and surprising ways.
It’s still my words and Robbi’s illustrations. It’s still our book, just with the welcome imprimatur of Chronicle upon it.
Thanks to all of you who have supported us for these past seven years. When we first set out across the Bay on a misbegotten lark to make books for a while, we never imagined this day. Not even in wildest dream mode.
Now that the book is done, the time has come to get it out in the world. Fortunately, Chronicle has people who actually know how to accomplish this. But if you’re interested in aiding our efforts, we’d be delighted to sell you a copy.
And as an added bonus, for anyone who orders a copy from our site today (Tuesday, September 24) we’ll sign and inscribe your book with a note that says it was ordered from us on the book’s publication date.
Perhaps that will be worth something someday. Or perhaps, to you, it is worth something now.
Thank you all for your support on this crazy journey of ours. We couldn’t (and wouldn’t) do it without you.

My copy just arrived. I’m fairly sizzling with excitement!
You’re gonna let Iggy sign it, right?
Congratulations to the least idiotic people I know. Or did I mean most?
Thanks, Jenifer!! Iggy will get her paws all over your books anytime. She is celebrating our big day by sleeping on her couch and barking threateningly at the UPS truck, just like every other day.
:)
