Our eldest child has officially come of age in the digital world. I say this with regret. So recently, she was content to build towers out of blocks.
Or spend a fun afternoon shopping with her father at Ikea.
Or ride on the back of her faithful steed Lightning.
But then one day she woke up, sat on Lightning, and looked at us as if to say, “WTF?! I’m way too old and awesome to spend my time bouncing up and down on the back of a plush pony. I’m outy.”
And that was that. Ever since, she will not touch a single item that is not available at Best Buy.
All that interests her these days is Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Lounging and listening to her iPod.
And chatting with her Uncle Davey on the telephone.
I suppose this development was inevitable, but I’m saddened that it happened so soon. At what point did I lose that little girl who was so content to while away the afternoon eating paper in the recycling bin?
So pleased to be hanging out in our tupperware filing thingy?
So easily delighted by a flat-rate priority mail box?
Childhood is so fleeting, and never more so than today. Thank goodness Kato has a few good years remaining.

AH! she’s wearing her OSU hoodie!!! yay! :]
love you guys!
Megan – As a non-OSU alum, I must begrudgingly admit that she is showing a certain predilection for the Buckeyes. She loves that hoodie. Don’t tell Grandma Elisabeth, though, or we’re sure to get a deluge of Duke fanorabilia to compensate.
I am saddened to see that she is an Ohio State fan.
Ronit – her fandom seems to know no bounds. At last count, she’s a Buckeyes/Blue Devils/Jayhawks/Terps/Sho’men/Ephs fan (in no particular order). Fair-weather friend, I say.
We are prepared to welcome her to the technological hive-mind. Please have her bring a parental permission slip to the assimilation.
