Since I’ve been trying to work in diorama mode, I’ve been looking at all things diorama and sweating with envy. I think to myself, “Aha! All I need is that kind of lens!” or “Oho! All I need is that kind of lighting equipment!” but mostly I think to myself, “Ahaw! All I need is that person, who did that, here in my studio, to hold my hands like a puppeteer and do this project for me!” It has been thoroughly demoralizing. It’s good, sometimes, to be knocked flat. It gives you a sense of how high up there is to go.
One of the most beautiful pieces I’ve seen was sent to me by our Sub-Commander of Peripheral Idiocy, Don. It is long, and it is slow, but it is also breathtaking. Here are some sneak peek stills to encourage you to watch the whole thing:
The artist is Hans Op de Beeck, and he does lots of other video and installation work. But this is the one that really got me. Do have a look:

It’s funny. When I saw the title of the post I thought, “Well this is clearly going to be about me and how beautiful I am,” knowing of course that it wouldn’t really. And then I saw my title! I was so shocked! And it was cool.
Really lovely. Gives me ideas.
Thanks for sharing.
