It’s just a given: any trip to Coffee Point will involve at least one night in an airport. Last night’s accommodations: a spacious bench just paces away from the baggage claim here in Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska.
When this picture was taken, the kids were sleeping soundly in their tent, Iggy was snoring away in her crate, and Robbi was thrashing about, cold and uncomfortable on the bench. Moments after this picture was taken, Robbi thought it would be a great idea to climb into the tent with the kids.
“Are you sure you won’t wake them?” I asked.
“I’m sure,” she said with unconvincing confidence.
Long story short: Robbi was wrong. She did wake the kids. She is now sleeping soundly in their tent, and they are running around in the baggage claim, trying to set new standards for loudness. I wondered if, perhaps, they were hungry, so I took them to this cute little local place that sells cinnamon rolls: I think it’s called Cinnabon?
After our meal, we stumbled into a chance encounter: one small Behr addressed a much larger one.
Four more hours in Anchorage. I’m savoring every last moment of civilization.

Sleeping tent brilliant, never seen one like that.
