We knew we were being ambitious when we set out to make 600 books today, but we did not realize how far off the mark we actually were. It’s 11:00pm, and we’re beat. It’s time to go to bed, and yet we have not even reached the halfway point.
Let’s take a closer look at this broken woman. She is the portrait of disappointment.
Look at this tower of books yet to be bound.
And these, not yet even trimmed! The hubris of our scheme is clear to us now.
I’m throwing in the towel, but Robbi persists, determined to reach at least 300 before we call it a day.
Here’s a word of thanks to our good friend Don, who drove all the way down from his home in PA to help us out today. Tireless and driven, he would have made books into the wee hours. When we told him we were tired, he called us “soft, middle-aged wannabe bookmakers,” and left in a huff.
And so ends another day in the barn.

you guys rock! your constant hard work inspires me all the time.
No! It’s not defeat! We have to call it something else so that I’m not overwhelmed with guilt at abandoning you. Let’s call it “re-strategizing”. Hey, I’m free next Saturday… :-)
I hope you had the cheesecake. Those of us still up are behind you 100%!
I wish I could be there to help, toooo!
Caroline: We could have used you! Next time, perhaps?
Procrastinator: Oh, we ate that cheesecake, all right. It was the beacon that steered us through the endless night of papercuts and sore elbows.
What Tilly said.
P.S. Yay Don!!!
