Driving home from the Small Press Expo last night, we were lucky enough to catch a cruise ship heading out to sea as we crossed over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
There’s something about a floating city full of people on vacation that makes me think a cruise must be fun, in spite of the “floating,” the “city” and the “full of people” parts.
Safe travels, you happy people, wherever you may be headed.

You know Robbi,
I am so pleased to read your thoughts about the cruise. I have had the exact same thoughts before. I think from a distance it seems like such fun. Up close (ie if I were on board) i’d probably hate most of it. Deep ocean scares me. Too many people in one place drives me nuts. So, I just wonder where people are going on their adventures and I move along.
It was such a pleasure seeing you both again at SPX this year, and having the chance to talk for so long. I’ve already plowed through several of the books that I picked up (I like the chipmunk, particularly!), and look forward to taking my time with both The Last of the Real Small Farmers and From the Inside Out. I always get such an energizing rush from all the DIY creativity on display at SPX, and your creative work, as well as the business the two of you are building, are especially inspiring.
Oh, and let Matt know that I learned this afternoon that I got the job … Asheville here I come!
Count me as another that isn’t sure if I could handle a cruise. But I do fantasize about it as I see them float by. I think honestly I’d enjoy a private yacht. That’s pretty funny in itself.
Try a windjammer instead. More your kind of place and peeps.
