On Tuesday, we headed to Parsons (otherwise known as The New School for Design).
It was rather exciting.
Apparently, there was going to be some sort of talk.
We paused a while in the lobby to marvel at the technologies of the modern age. If only there had been this sort of electronic class schedule when we went to college, Robbi might not have had so many nightmares about not being able to find her way to class.
Given that Parsons is one of the nation’s leading schools for art and design, it was not surprising that the restrooms were a vibrant shade of orange.
We felt like the bumpkins that we are as we gazed through the central skylight at the city towering above us.
And then our host arrived, the wonderful and spectacularly dressed Steven Guarnaccia, chair of the Parsons illustration program, former art editor of the New York Times Op-Ed page, and an accomplished illustrator.
Why he consented to be photographed with Robbi, we will never know.
We presented in a small auditorium off the lobby to four classes of senior thesis students.
Steven said some embarrassingly kind things about us by way of introduction.
And then we did our thing. The students had some great questions afterward, making us feel generally interesting and not a waste of time.
Next up (TONIGHT) is our talk/reading/Q&A at Fordham. The event is open to the public, and we’d love to see you there. Here is the info:

Robbi,
I STILL have those nightmares. In my dreams, I’ve never made it out of either Williams or law school (the latter being the worst of the nightmares – talk about a nightmarish limbo!) because I keep “forgetting” a class all semester long.
With sympathy.
