I have a confession to make. I love a Chipotle burrito. I love it so much that, given the vast resources of the New York City culinary scene, when it came to lunch today, I opted for the good old tried and true.
Alden declared herself big enough to carry the bag. And proved herself right.
We found a playground with a free bench and sat down to feast.
But as soon as her quesadilla was gone, Alden spotted, from the corner of her eye, a treasure among the dry leaves, a length of rope, which she asked me to tie to a stick.
It proved to be a great discovery.
On par with the lever and the wheel.
An elaborate dance emerged.
The girl’s got moves.
It was all I could do stay out of the way.
Along one edge of the playground was this wall with embedded mosaics.
Every time I come to New York, I like it a little bit more. In part, it’s stuff like this, the beautiful details, hidden among the clamor and noise.
Robbi and the boys arrive in an hour or so. Tomorrow afternoon, we’re speaking at Parsons.
In case you’re wondering, the rope came home from the playground with us. I’m curious to see what Alden will do with it tomorrow.

Awwww. I am not with you on Chipotle, but I am with you on New York, and ropes.
